Announcements Superintendent's Message 2012 - 2013 Welcome back to the start of a new school year. I want to extend a most warm and friendly welcome to students, parents, staff, and community members of our school district. Beginning a new school year provides a wonderful opportunity to make a true difference in the lives of our students. All employees of the Heber Elementary School District (HESD) take great pride in working in a school system and community that produces outstanding learners.
The 2011-2012 school year was filled with many challenges, and the new school year will be equally, if not more, challenging. With the difficult financial situation of the State of California, our school budget has been adversely affected. There may be potentially more budget cuts to public school funding in the immediate future. Therefore, we must continue to plan prudently to ensure HESD remains fiscally solvent in the years to come.
In spite of these major financial challenges, our school district continues to provide quality educational services to our students. We are very excited and proud to inform you that student achievement continues to improve at HESD. As soon as the California Department of Education releases our Academic Performance Index (API), we will share it with the community. HESD is committed to you as parents and as taxpayers in providing the best educational opportunities so our students acquire the skills and knowledge needed for success in the 21st Century.
We know that improving student achievement cannot be accomplished without the support of parents and obviously the hard work of students. We value your trust in allowing us to educate your children and to provide them the skills and knowledge they will need to become the leaders and productive citizens of our nation. Our Board of Education and the entire staff of HESD thank you for your continued interest, involvement, and support. By working together, we will make certain student learning continues to improve in our school district. I ask that you support your schools and your children in their learning efforts. Let’s work as a united team for another magnificent school year.
